So my Saturday was a day well spent. We had really nice weather, mid-50's (warm for February in NY) and super bright sunshine... so I taught two classes, met with as client and decided to meet up with my friend and get some vitamin D. We rolled out our yoga mats overlooking my favorite place on Staten Island-- a peaceful view of the still ocean. I watched the ducks float by in the water and listened to the sound of the birds flapping their wings among the serene sound of the ocean breaking onto the rocky beach below. It's my fav spot to regenerate, absorb sunshine and gather my thoughts. Before we knew it, we were there for hours and we started to really feel the ocean breeze. So, we rolled up the mats and decided to head over to my house to eat lunch and warm up.

On my ride home from the park, I was thinking of what I can make to warm up. I wasn't in the mood for soup and I hadn't had a substantial breakfast yet... so avocado toast with baby spinach and smoked salmon was on my agenda! My friend knows that I love trying new products, so when she gave me this packet of Further Foods Turmeric Tonic sample pack, I knew I had to try a recipe with it! So after I ate, I warmed up some Gefen unsweetened coconut milk and the turmeric superfood blend to make a frothy latte... what I call the Anti-Inflammatory Golden Latte.

Back when I had serious inflammation with my digestive system and chronic heartburn, I looked for natural remedies to solve these horrible symptoms when traditional medicine wasn't working for me. I took turmeric supplements on a regular basis and remember feeling such relief almost instantaneously!

I know that turmeric is fat soluble, which means it works its magic when consumed with foods containing fats... so pairing this with the coconut milk was not only a delicious choice, but beneficial as well (and you know, I'm all about the benefits)!

I put together a list of the top 10 benefits of turmeric's active ingredient, curcumin, which is inside the Further Foods superfood and adaptogen blend. If you don't have this brand on hand, not to worry. You can still recreate this recipe using ground turmeric and some of the other spices and superfoods below, but note that the flavor and benefits are best when combined.
